To celebrate the opening of As She Is, we invite you to an intimate Ethiopian coffee ceremony at the Soho Revue Gallery with Rejina Pyo and Ethiopian creative and cultural curator, Helina Tesega. 
 
The ceremony will begin with Rejina Pyo and Helina Tesega in conversation. Helina will then guide us through the ancient ritual of hand roasting single-origin Ethiopian coffee beans using a terracotta Mitad and brewing with a traditional Jebena pot. The ceremony will include the use of vintage Ethiopian coffee ceremony objects and artefacts and feature Helina’s handmade ceramics. Accompanied by fragrant herbs, frankincense, and myrrh, the ceremony offers a moment of reflection and connection in a welcoming space nurtured by women, for all. The ceremony will end with a coffee tasting, after which guests are invited to explore our exhibition, As She Is, curated by Rejina Pyo. 

The exhibition features works by a diverse group of 19 extraordinary contemporary artists, including Chantal Joffe, Angela De La Cruz, Eileen Cooper, Nengi Omuku, Antonia Showering, and Rachel Cusk. In one of the gallery’s rooms, Pyo’s “Mother’s Objects” presents a collection of objects, furniture, and art curated by Pyo’s mother, gathered over her lifetime in South Korea.

Tickets for the event are £20. Please note, there are a very limited number of tickets available as coffee ceremony will take place in and amongst the artworks. We anticipate this will sell out very quickly, so please be sure to reserve your spot as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
