Accessories Design & Studio Paid Internship (6 months)

 This paid internship for a graduate or student will provide a unique opportunity to learn how every department of a young fashion design label works in a very practical process.

Please note this job opportunity is for an immediate start and needs to be available for an interview in our North London studio.

 As Accessories Design and Studio Intern you will support the Accessories Design team on the design, development and production for Rejina Pyo accessories collections. In this multifaceted role you will also support the Studio Manager in the day-to-day running of the studio. 


Specific tasks include:

  • Support the Accessories design team to design and develop seasonal accessories collections (including shoes, bags and jewellery)
  • Work to the deadlines outlined in the critical path timetable
  • Carry out visual research, produce sketches, assist with CADs (using Adobe Illustrator) and develop 3D prototypes (through pattern cutting and sewing) as directed by the Accessories team
  • Assist with product renderings and tech packs, sourcing and keeping fabric/leather folders organised
  • Assist with fit sessions and update specifications for production 
  • Assist with organising and tracking Accessories sample inventory
  • Inspect and quality check samples and product and support wholesale and e-commerce shipping activities as required
  • Support the Studio Manager with day-to-day running of the studio and administrative tasks 
  • Support preparations and delivery of Rejina Pyo runway shows, showrooms, pop ups and other events as directed by the team


Candidate Profile:

  • BA Fashion Design graduate at BA level who has experience in Shoes or Bags 
  • Previous Accessories related internship experience 
  • Strong skills in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Strong understanding of construction and making skills  
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills 
  • Proactive attitude and ability to work as part of a team
  • An eye for detail and an aesthetic which aligns with the brand’s ethos 
  • Fluent in English and available to start immediately

Ready to Wear Designer

As Ready to Wear Designer you will design and develop ready-to-wear collections under the direction of the Creative Director. You will work alongside the Design and Development Manager and oversee the product design and development process from research, sketching through to sampling and finished product. 

Specific duties:

  • Work with the Creative Director to design and develop seasonal clothing collections, working closely with the Design and Development Manager 
  • Contribute to the professional and smooth running of the design and development department, working closely with the Pattern Cutter and Design Interns on a daily basis
  • Contribute to and follow the design, development and production critical path timetable for ready-to-wear collections, working closely with the Design and Development Manager and production team to ensure deadlines are met 
  • Carry out visual research and design development based on the Creative Director’s creative concept and brief for the season
  • Produce initial sketches, sketch modification, drapings and 3D developments as directed by the Creative Director 
  • Research and source fabric, yarn, trimmings and other components for ready-to-wear designs - traveling to fabric fairs when necessary
  • Oversee sampling process and liaise with pattern cutter to develop patterns, toiles and samples for the ready-to-wear designs
  • Oversee fit sessions and ensure the modifications are reflected in the final spec sheets and patterns for ready-to-wear designs
  • Ensure samples are delivered on time, to the required standard and within budget
  • Liaise with pattern cutter to develop production ready patterns for the collection
  • Compile finished tech packs ready for sampling, revising and finalising them for production
  • Oversee accurate and appropriate costing of seasonal collections, working with the Design and Development Assistant and the Sales Manager
  • Ensure any and all design and development issues are discussed with the Creative Director in a timely manner
  • Report on the design and development progress at regular meetings with the company directors 
  • Manage Design interns, communicating with them daily to ensure appropriate direction and support on required tasks
  • Liaise with the Sales Manager and production team to manage exclusive and reordered products
  • Oversee dressers and any alterations required for seasonal shows 
  • Support the Creative Director with any other creative projects
  • Carry out other tasks or responsibilities as required by the company directors 


Required Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • MA or equivalent qualification in a fashion related subject from a recognised College or University
  • Significant prior experience in a design role within a womenswear fashion business
  • Detailed knowledge of women’s fashion and an ability to understand the brand’s design aesthetic
  • Ability to create and contribute to the design of cutting edge women’s ready to wear clothing and accessories with a high level of skills within visual design, technical drawing and pattern cutting
  • Strong technical knowledge of womenswear garments and an ability to come up with creative solutions for finishes 
  • Exceptional organisational skills and ability to manage the production process and timetable for seasons clothing collections 
  • Strong Photoshop and Illustrator skills 
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and an ability to effectively manage team members
